It is true that the Federal Government of the United States has always given a lot of attention to the needs of housing when they've become evident. In the Great Depression of the late 1920s and in the 1930s, the Federal Government began developing programs to provide housing subsidies for the most disadvantaged citizens.

In the 1960s, the Section 8 program of Housing Act was introduced, which stipulates that tenants have to pay 30percent of their earnings for rent in their housing while the remainder is covered by the federal government.

Although it might seem like a good idea for landlords and tenants to accept Section 8 vouchers, many landlords do not accept these vouchers. This could be due to it being the case that authorities are going to periodically inspect the premises which accept vouchers.
